Local bike shops benefitting from El Tour de Tucson
TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Turning the spokes on a bike in his shop, Gary Menard thought back to his childhood when he first started working on bikes.
“I was 13 years old and I told my mom ‘I’m going to own a bike shop someday mom’ and she said okay,” Menard said. He’s owned Pima Street Bicycle for about 8 years.
When El Tour de Tucson comes to town every year, he looks forward to it because it benefits his sales. He said because so many bike riders need repairs, his repair sales go up about 50 percent. He said besides flat tires, tune ups are his most popular service in the weeks leading up to El Tour de Tucson. “Pulling the whole bike apart, pulling the wheels off, truing the wheels, cleaning things up,” Menard said about his services.
(unfortunately i can't get rid of the ad) but the video is next.

Since the Az Daily Star began the "Reader's Choice Awards", 7 years ago in 2015, Pima Street Bicycle has been voted a winner in the top 3.
That is one fact that only we can claim.
We thank our customers for their continued support thru the years
and for taking the time, each day, to vote for us.
Gary & I appreciate you chosing us as your local bike shop.
Enjoy your day. Be well & stay safe!

Great News!! We got a call, yesterday morning, from Jasmine, a KOLD's newsperson. She informed us that we were nominated, by one of our customers, for the Arizona's Heart and Sol award, which is sponsored by Casino del Sol and won. It honors those making a difference in our community.
She stopped by in the afternoon to interview us and honor us for helping our community.
We received a $300 gift card. Now we can help even more people.
We will be on KOLD to (1/13/22) night at 6pm.
Hope you get a chance to watch it. We would like to thank, Meredith, from the bottom of our hearts, for her kind words. Always be kind!
If you missed the newscast, log onto KOLD.com and look under Heart & Sol recpients for January 12, 2022. You should be able to watch it. Thank you for your support!

When Gary & I heard the story about Ramon Gonzales's Miracle on 31st Street and how, for the past 50 years, he's been making Christmas possible for so many children, we decided it was time for us to help. Sadly, Ramon passed away last December, of Covid, but his sons are continuing the tradition. They are in need of toys for children of all ages. We will have a box for donations, at the bike shop, starting Tuesday, December 7th thru Friday, December 10th. If you can't make it to the shop, you can bring your donations, on Dec. 11th, to Advanced Auto Parts, located at 1300 S 6th Ave, from 10-2. The toy giveaway is on Sunday, December 19th. (see post for details). Let's help Ramon Gonzales's Miracle live on....He'll be watching from above with a HUGE smile on his face and lots of LOVE in his heart. Isn't that what miracles are all about?

Important Notice:
There are many more people out riding their bikes, these days. They are enjoying the outside and the pleasure riding brings. If you've been in the shop, lately, you know we have many bikes to be serviced. Please know that, currently, our "promise date/when you get bike back" is a couple weeks out. Best option is to call and make an appointment. 520-326-4044. Then, you bring in your bike a couple days before the promise date and only be without your bike for a couple days as opposed to longer. Gary is the only mechanic so we thank you for your support, understanding and patience. Enjoy your day and please be safe!

i gave this wish nik to gary, as good luck, when he went cross country on his bike in 1992. in june, he will be 31 years young, the wish nik, not gary thus the worn out jersey. he came with the cycling clothes which was great. we would like you to meet our "shop" mascot.
1st photo before pandemic. 2nd photo at start of pandemic, 3rd photo a brand new mask made by Bethany (my very good friend, Melody's sister). thank you, so so much, to both of you, for taking the time & patience to make our little guy a real mask. we have a sign on our front door stating that masks are required in the bike shop. of course there are no exceptions, not even for our mascot. he understands, though, so all is ok. enjoy your week and please be safe!

Welcome to Pima Street Bicycle!
Hi, my name is Gary Menard. My wife Jessie and I are the proud owners of Pima Street Bicycle. After many years of working, running and owning various bicycle related businesses, I have returned to my true original love - fixing bicycles!
Jessie and I have over 50 years of cycling experience, between us, and we will always
do our absolute best to serve your bicycle repair and accessory needs.
Pima Street Bicycle provides superior customer service and high quality repairs for all makes and models of bicycles. Bicycle Repair is our main focus and I've been a pretty darn good mechanic since attending United Bicycle Institute back in the 80's. That's right, I'm an old school guy who actually overhauls and fixes things, instead of just replacing it! I'd love the opportunity to get your favorite ride running the best it ever has.
If you're looking for a great deal, on a used bike, we sell bikes on consignment.
You can find a listing on the Consignment Page.
Stop by and say hello. We would love to get to know you.
Thank you for taking the time to check out our website.
Look us up on facebook as well.
